DONews: Helps understand, to know what’s true, and assist our community to act. https://www.doseofnews.com/
Understand — Don’t just tell people what happened; explain why it matters, what caused it, who is affected, and what could happen next.
Know what’s true — In an environment flooded with social posts, AI-generated material and misinformation, people need a trusted, independent source that verifies facts and shows its work. Research finds audiences particularly value factual, current information and want journalists to provide context and transparency.
- Know what to do — Make journalism actionable: How does this affect my life? What should I watch for? What services or resources are available? What decision do I need to make? Recent research says journalism must shift from a “journalism of attention” to a “journalism of value” by helping people accomplish things.
We are also moving beyond simply producing more journalism and asking: What information, context, investigation, or service do people actually need? News organizations can then shape their reporting around those needs, strengthening trust, relevance, and audience loyalty. In an environment where the free press faces political, economic, and technological attacks, being essential to the communities they serve can become a form of resilience.
