‘POND WALK’ - An accessible path and viewing platform that will provide an opportunity for children of all abilities to get in touch with nature through play and exploration at the edge of a pond in Pelham Bay Park's Playground for All Children.

Enjoy the last weekend in winter... Spring like weather is in the air all over City Island and our increasingly gorgeous surrounding areas, which stretch from the extreme western end of Long Island Sound, south of Pelham Bay and Eastchester Bay to City Island Harbor, which marks the main shipping channel into NYC.

From Belden Point through Pelham Park and on to Orchard Beach. These unseasonable temperatures are providing many lucky local citizens, as well as delighted visitors and not to mention the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees and the moon up above...

Of all the wild videos kids watch on YouTube, some of the most disturbing are the ones of people fighting. Playground brawls, gang fights, teachers bullying students, students mocking teachers until the teacher snaps -- they all play out in grainy videos captured and uploaded via cell phone. There's even an entire category of victims seeking revenge on their bullies -- making it difficult for kids to figure out who's right and who's wrong.

STATUS QUO IN SYRIA INDEFENSIBLE

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today marked the anniversary of the uprising in Syria by calling for an end to the ongoing bloodshed, which has claimed more than 8,000 lives since popular protests began a year ago, and for a peaceful resolution of the crisis.

“It is urgent to break the cycle of violence, stop military operations against civilians and prevent a further militarization of the conflict in Syria. The status quo in Syria is indefensible,” said a statement issued by the Secretary-General’s spokesperson.
