NEWSHOOKS

Independent reporting has practically disappeared and gave way to citizen journalists who share views instead of news.

Newhooks offers a journalism chipboard for all to use. You're invited you to log on and update the data chips are updated with reliable sources and labeled content.

News outlets release a story and hope the consumer will figure out the most important information. But folks are too busy, or just not motivated enough to waste their time sifting through data, they want the “meaty” information right from the get go. Where's the beef?

The act or sound of crooning is defined as singing in an evenly modulated, slightly exaggerated manner.
Singers began crooning in the 1930s and have been popular ever since. Take a look, listen and let us see if you agree.

Women's Equality Day

Submitted by ub on

This idea is not new and still needs to be kept in the forefront. Created in 1971 to commemorate the 19th Amendment which grants women the right to vote. This is a day to continue the fight for equality, in the form of closing the pay gap, eliminating sexism in the workplace and society, and guaranteeing equal representation.

Which is your favorite national park? The two parks which come to mind because they hold a special place in my heart are Everglades and Yosemite.

The people of this great nation are enjoying 100 years of clean, beautiful parks. It's the centennial celebration of the National Park Service.

NASA says Hubble's New Shot of Proxima Centauri, and calls is our nearest neighbor. Shining brightly in this Hubble image is our closest stellar neighbor: Proxima Centauri.

Proxima Centauri lies in the constellation of Centaurus, just over four light-years from Earth. Although it looks bright through the eye of Hubble, as you might expect from the nearest star to the Solar System, Proxima Centauri is not visible to the naked eye. Its average luminosity is very low, and it is quite small compared to other stars, at only about an eighth of the mass of the sun.

Remember pulling over to check a map, or ask for directions? No way, no how, no more. Global Positioning Systems allow us to drive anywhere and without planning a trip. Some say they make us dumb robots, others can't live without the.

Veering off the beaten path (aka going GPS-free) can improve your geographic knowledge. http://bit.ly/2bf9dAU
