To celebrate Constitution Day, we say a special thank you to all who fight back when their rights are attacked. All of us support the Constitution and the freedoms it protects.

September 17 is Constitution Day and Citizenship Day (Constitution Day). This day commemorates the September 17, 1787 signing of the United States Constitution.

This year is the 225th anniversary of the Constitution.

US RACE AND IMMIGRATION REFORMS

Submitted by Admin on

According to MSNBC/Telemundo/Marist Poll of the United States findings, immigration reform and race relations continue to be hot-button issues in the headlines and for the 2016 presidential campaign. When it comes to U.S. immigration policy, many Americans, including more than eight in ten Latinos, think that birthright should remain in place so that children born in this country receive U.S. citizenship, regardless of whether or not their parents are undocumented immigrants. Americans divide about whether or not the term “anchor baby” is offensive.

Hispanics are over 55 million strong and growing much stronger. Please share with your friends and tell them about #HispanosUnidosDeAmerica. Ask them all to join. We must turn around the under-representation of Latinos and the lack of diversity in all walks of life. These are issues that are important to Hispanics and we should unite and portray a much more united front sympathetically. Latinos will become nearly one quarter of the US population by 2035. We are one.

NYC SPEEDWAYS

Submitted by Admin on

There appears to be an increase in the number of idiotic criminals driving the streets of NYC who are hell bent on speeding as if they were in a hurry to put a down payment on their tombstone.

One of my neighbors has already been warned several times, but insists on showing his low IQ and his desire to hurt someone, or perhaps just himself.

Here are some facts for all those drivers who insist on speeding within city limits. You can assume that each 5 mph you drive over 60 mph is like paying an additional $0.24 per gallon for gas. See www.fueleconomy.gov for more on this.

A speed fine could cost you over a thousand dollars. To hold on to your license, remember that speed violation points range from 3 to 11. Your license will be suspended at 11 points.

Our safety is the reason that speed enforcement is a police priority. Over 42,000 people die as the result of traffic crashes each year on our nation's highways and hundreds of thousands are seriously injured. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for people ages 3 - 33.

TWO FOR TWO?

Submitted by ub on

Here we go again, folks... The possibility of another federal government shutdown, which would be the second in two years is growing. US House conservatives oppose any funding for Planned Parenthood.

A move that blocks funding for Planned Parenthood would almost certainly lack the votes to pass the Senate, and would be vetoed by President Obama.

But House Republicans lack GOP votes to approve a funding measure that continues Planned Parenthood, and don't want to negotiate with Democrats.

House Democrats are demanding negotiations with GOP leaders on a budget. They also want spending limits known as the sequester to be lifted, and it’s not clear they’d back a short-term spending measure written by the GOP with no concessions.
