NYC Parks officials will present Katherine Daniels’ twelve large-scale weaving, entitled Ornamental Paths. Daniels is the second annual recipient of Parks’ Clare Weiss Emerging Artist Award.

The wisdom of colonoscopy screening seems obvious. The test enables a physician to examine the lining of the entire colon and to remove small, potentially precancerous growths called polyps during the exam. As a result, it has the potential not only to detect colon cancer early, but also to prevent new cases by removing polyps. It is generally assumed that colonoscopy saves lives because the procedure is good at detecting early disease.

It was 68 years ago today and veterans throughout The United State of America still remember one of the most significant days in world history - It is simply know as "D-Day".
City Islanders Russel Schaller and Robert Branizza both recall that fateful day. Branazza says he vaguely remembers watching it all from from the sky. However, Russel Schaller says his recollections of D Day actually began on June 4th, when his 33rd Photo Reconnaissance Squadron was restricted to the base. There were no evening junkets, or visits to the local pub allowed.

Only you were the last living member and founding father of The Platters.
Reed Reed was a native of Kansas City, Missouri and founded The Platters in Los Angeles, back in 1953. It was originally a quartet, the group won a string of talent shows, and performed up and down the California coast while the members worked days at a car wash and at other odd jobs.

They May Not Have Another This Saturday

Two out of three ain't bad? It sure is not if you're referring to the Triple Crown of Horse Racing.
All eyes were on "I'll Have Another" as the horse was considered a possibility of winning this weekend's third race. But don't place your bet on that iconic horse race just yet. It appears that those paying attention to the Belmont Stakes want a momentous, history-making victory. There has not been a Triple Crown winner since 1978, it’s a popular sentiment to bet on I’ll Have Another, if just for the souvenir ticket and the boost it could give the sport.
NTSB INVESTIGATION'S FINDINGS
The National Transportation Safety Board wants trucking companies to gather 10 years of driving records for newly hired drivers. This represents an increase from the current three years that the board said does not allow carriers to make informed hiring decisions.
In presenting its findings from an investigation of a nearby crash that killed 15 people in March, the board has also recommended that all new heavy vehicles have devices that limit speeds based on current speed limits.
