The East Bronx History Forum will host their final lecture of 2011 on Wednesday, December 21st at 7:30 pm at the Huntington Free Library located at 9 Westchester Square . Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. has announced the release of the results of his office’s first-ever “Well Being Survey.” The survey, which was conducted between late August and the end of October, was designed to measure the opinions of Bronx residents and those who work in the Bronx on a variety of issues that impact their communities.
Approximately 1,900 individuals took part in the survey, which was available both online and in print at a wide variety of locations across the borough. Of that number 92.6 percent, or more than 1,750 individuals, live in the Bronx.
The Mayor’s remarks at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens, which he delivered prior to Officer Figoski’s death, follow.

In light of full disclosure, I must state that my parents were married on this day, so they would be celebrating their wedding anniversary on earth if they were still alive, but I am sure my mom and dad are both celebrating in heaven.
The shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe is the most visited Catholic pilgrimage destination in the world. Over the Friday and Saturday of 11 to 12 December, back in 2009, a record number of 6.1 million pilgrims visited the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico, DF to join in the commemoration of the anniversary of the apparition.
