TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALL GAME

Submitted by ub on

Baseball has been very special for my family. In fact, my late dad's longtime professional baseball team - St. Louis Cardinals have actually come from brink to force game 7 of World Series against Rangers. Most would agree it was one of the best championship ball games they had ever watched a professional team play.

Those incredible Cardinals have pulled off improbable rallies, with a home field advantage, right in their own ballpark by winning in the most inspiring fashion.

GO CARDINALS!!!!!

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. joined NYC Sanitation Commissioner John J. Doherty and Bronx Community Board #7 District Manager Fernando Tirado to announce a new information and enforcement campaign aimed at keeping Bronx streets free of canine waste.

The photo shows Borough President Diaz holding a “pooper scooper,” which typically cost about $20 each—a contrast to the $250 fine “pooper-trators” will receive for failing to clean up after their pet.

Happy 107th Birthday to NYC's SUBWAY

Happy Birthday to you, there are times you smell like a zoo...

By the late 1800s, New York City's promise and potential were constrained only by a mass transit system that was becoming somewhat frayed around the edges. Electric streetcars, horse-drawn omnibuses and steam-powered elevated trains could carry passengers only limited distances. Manhattan Island north of Greenwich Village was the suburbs and anything much farther out than that was country, certainly impractical for a regular commute.

CICA Meeting

The October Meeting of the City Island Civic Association took place and ended last night without it's President, or VP in attendance at 190 Fordham Street.
Although residents are always welcomed, several regulars were also missing from the monthly meeting.

There were no guests scheduled to speak and little was actually accomplished. Does that mean that in this particular case, no news is still good news?

Perhaps the low attendance had something to do with the October 2010 meeting notice, which as yo can see, makes reference to 2010 and was
