NY TO GUYANA PLANE CRASH

The Caribbean Airlines flight BW 523 had departed from the JFK Airport and crash landed at the CJIA. The plane skidded off the runway and broke in half.

Authorities at Cheddi Jagan International Airport say the accident resulted in a few persons having to be rescued from the aircraft. Several passengers are said to have sustained injuries. Four arrived in wheelchairs at the local hospital.

A dozen Bronx teenagers have been awarded the New York Urban League Whitney M. Young Jr. Scholarship. Over 40 scholarships were awarded citywide and those recipients are going to colleges like West Point Academy and Connecticut College. The Whitney M. Young, Jr. Scholarship Fund Award ceremony awarded 43 New York City students $131,500 in scholarships. KUDOS to all of them.
