Regardless of which language you speak, communication is key to great relations.

1. If you want to convince listeners that you have a good message for them, first convince them you're a good person.

2. If you desire a strong commitment from the audience, must engage strong feelings.

3. If you want commitments to last then must show that arguments are logical and based of understood reality.

4. When speaking of guilt or innocence, emphasize the morality of past actions.

5. when speaking of future policy, stress practical advantages of the plan of action

6. When celebrating achievements, emphasize the values that make them right.

Fight 'Pooper Trators'

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. joined NYC Sanitation Commissioner John J. Doherty and Bronx Community Board #7 District Manager Fernando Tirado to announce a new information and enforcement campaign aimed at keeping Bronx streets free of canine waste.

The photo shows Borough President Diaz holding a “pooper scooper,” which typically cost about $20 each—a contrast to the $250 fine “pooper-trators” will receive for failing to clean up after their pet.

Bronx Subway Upgrades

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. says the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) has agreed to major renovations to the 149thStreet/Grand Concourse subway station. Additionally, the agency will make repairs to the 138th Street/3rd Avenue subway station.

Happy Birthday to you, there are times you smell like a zoo...

By the late 1800s, New York City's promise and potential were constrained only by a mass transit system that was becoming somewhat frayed around the edges. Electric streetcars, horse-drawn omnibuses and steam-powered elevated trains could carry passengers only limited distances. Manhattan Island north of Greenwich Village was the suburbs and anything much farther out than that was country, certainly impractical for a regular commute.

CICA Meeting

The October Meeting of the City Island Civic Association took place and ended last night without it's President, or VP in attendance at 190 Fordham Street.
Although residents are always welcomed, several regulars were also missing from the monthly meeting.

There were no guests scheduled to speak and little was actually accomplished. Does that mean that in this particular case, no news is still good news?

Perhaps the low attendance had something to do with the October 2010 meeting notice, which as yo can see, makes reference to 2010 and was

Dog Walkers ‘pooper scooper’ Law Enforcement
