Dr. Robert DeCandido, better known as "Birding Bob" to legions of New Yorkers who follow him around city parks looking for feathered friends, will answer your every owl question. Learn about which owls are seen most often this time of year and take a stroll outside sipping hot chocolate to ward off the cold while Bob attempts to summon these amazing creatures from their treetops.

Friends of Pelham Bay Park member Deborah Wye, a retired MoMA curator, will explore the history of the landmark Orchard Beach Pavilion and its distinctive architecture. She will describe its origins as a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project lead by Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia and Parks Commissioner Robert Moses, and its possible renovation for future generations.

While walking through Central Park during this cold spell, I came across a celebrity. his name is Pale Male, a red-tailed hawk who manages to enjoy urbanized New York City.
This well known predator has been stalking Manhattan for years. But instead of calling the police, New Yorkers roll out the welcome mat by wishing him the best of luck.
Meet Pale Male — a red-tailed hawk who chose life in the Big Apple and founded a hawk dynasty on the ledge of a swanky high-rise overlooking Central Park. More on my Facebook Page:
