The globally averaged temperature over land and ocean surfaces for 2014 was the highest among all years since record keeping began in 1880. The December combined global land and ocean average surface temperature was also the highest on record.

During 2014, the average temperature across global land and ocean surfaces was 1.24°F (0.69°C) above the 20th century average. This was the highest among all 135 years in the 1880–2014 record, surpassing the previous records of 2005 and 2010 by 0.07°F (0.04°C).

A coalition of 10 news media companies has announce a partnership with Virginia Tech to test unmanned aircraft systems to gather news.

Virginia Tech leads the Mid-Atlantic Aviation Partnership, one of six test sites established by Congress to collect data on the use of UAS. Congress set up the test sites to assist the Federal Aviation Administration in formulating regulations to integrate UAS into the national airspace.

Safety Needs of Civilian Space Travel

The commercial aviation industry has medical care standards, as does NASA for traditional space missions, and the emerging commercial space transportation industry will need to define medical care practices as well. The unique risks posed by commercial spaceflight warrant the establishment of Medical Levels of Care to account for the different phases of suborbital and orbital missions, as described in an article published in New Space, a peer-reviewed journal from Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers. Abraham Lincoln was the first US President who was a member of the modern Republican party. But who was the first big shot in the Grand Old Party? Most agree that it began in a little Wisconsin schoolhouse in 1854. A small group of dedicated abolitionists gathered to fight the expansion of slavery, and they gave birth to a Party dedicated to freedom and equal opportunity.

The name “Republican” was chosen, alluding to Thomas Jefferson’s Democratic-Republican Party and conveying a commitment to the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

An area of low pressure off the North Carolina coast will bring a wintry mix of precipitation across parts of the mid-Atlantic on Wednesday. Freezing rain is possible for some locations, mainly in Virginia and North Carolina. Snow is expected across the central Appalachians, with rain across the southern mid-Atlantic.
