School children may be off for spring break, but spring is in full season. The New York Botanical Garden.

On Monday April 9 the garden features hands-on fun to welcome the season: Plant in the Family Garden during Wake Up, Garden; make your own terrarium in the Adventure Garden during Little Landscapes; go on a scavenger hunt through the Conservatory; and finish up your week at a family concert, Ferdinand the Bull. Of course, the amazing Orchid Show is in full flower. All included in All-Garden Pass admission.

Pond Walk: FPBP fundraiser was a success: They will build an accessible path with viewing platform at a small pond within the Playground for All Children at Pelham Bay Park.
The group raised approximately $11,000 through an auction, raffles, ticket sales and special donations from Millie Pinott and Eric Salmeron of Betz Mitchell Associates; National Golf Corporation; Bronx Kiwanis Club; and James McQuade of Schuyler Hill Funeral Homes. Councilman Jimmy Vacca pledged $35,000 in capital grant funds.

New York's smallest pocket park is perfectly placed for residents who want to enjoy a bit of greenery just out of sight of the city's hustle and bustle. The secrets of New York's smallest park "pocket park" is that it is located on the Upper West Side and is measured in hundredths of an acre. Community Board 7 - SEPTUAGISIMO UNO.

New York's largest park is located in The Bronx. At over 2,700 acres, it is the city's largest park. Like many of New York City's parks, the land on which it sits has a long and intricate history.

NY Officials Urge Community Vigilance

A NY City Councilman, a NY State Senator and several local community leaders gathered in The Bronx today to urge the public to keep an eye out for the continued sale of dangerous synthetic marijuana, which is now against the law.

City Island Images walked around the neighborhood to find if this substance was still being sold. We entered two area businesses and the individuals behind the counter at both places told us that they were no longer selling this chemical pot. However, we then spoke with a young man on the street who assured us this substance was still readily available at his nearby corner stores. While in walking in the same area, near the corner of Lydig and Holland Avenues, we observed undercover police officers at work investigating illicit activities.
