Submitted by ub on

NYC Parks will join the NY-NJ Harbor & Estuary Program, the Bronx River Alliance, and representatives from federal, state, city, university and community organizations who are conducting a wide range of research projects along the Bronx River. CLEMENTE STATE PARK WATERFRONT REPAIR

Submitted by ub on

New York State officials plan to replace a failing seawall at Roberto Clemente State Park that was directly impacted by Super-storm Sandy with a stronger, more storm- resilient bulkhead along the Harlem River.

The new wall will protect park and residential housing complexes in the Morris Heights neighborhood of the Bronx from future storms. The State will utilize State and Federal resources to restore and enhance Roberto Clemente State Park. The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will apply for up to $46.5 million in Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Relief funds for the project. The funds provided to the State by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are managed through the Governor's Office of Storm Recovery. New York State has been awarded $4.4 billion of HUD disaster recovery funds to date to address recovery needs resulting from the impacts of Super-storm Sandy, Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee to the State.

Now that the Sochi Olympics are behind us, you may feel as though you've had enough of winter, given this year’s record temperatures and snowfall in cities across the country.

This winter weather has destroyed roads across the country. Some cities are running out of salt, and pothole-dodging could be an Olympic sport, while finding places to mound all that snow has been a challenge.

The American Society of Civil Engineers is committed to improving USA public infrastructure.

POSTAL RATE HIKES

The U.S. Postal Service is making another proposal, but not the kind Americans dream of.

By January 26 the price of shipping rates could go up as much as 2.4 percent.

Check out the proposed price changes. Save up for the price hike or research ways to ship for less. Our relationship with U.S.P.S. may be about to change.

Even in an increasingly digital world, the Postal Service remains part of the bedrock infrastructure of this nation’s economy, serving its people and businesses and binding the nation together.

AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE

Affordable Healthcare is so needed, wanted, desired ...

A website to handle the load of everyone who wants healthcare is difficult to imagine.

If I live in NYC lets say and everyone flushed their toilet at the same time things might not go so smoothly. In a single 50 story building people on lower floors would not be happy. There is no infrastructure could handle the load. In reality there are vents in the toilet lines that would blow sewage out of the side of the buildings. Yuk.

FAILING AMERICAN INFRASTRUCTURE

Our infrastructure is not Republican nor Democrat, but it's necessary repair and upgrades have stalled as partisan political bickering continues to thrive.

Every family, every community and every business needs infrastructure to thrive. Infrastructure encompasses your local water main and the Hoover Dam; the power lines connected to your house and the electrical grid spanning the U.S.; and the street in front of your home and the national highway system.
