The Empire State’s Governor Kathy Hochul today urged New Yorkers in parts of the state to prepare for a lake effect snowstorm that is forecast to dump one to three feet of snow to the region.

Two powerful systems continue to impact the Pacific Northwest, Central, Southern, and Eastern U.S. throughout this week.

Severe thunderstorms, damaging winds, heavy snow, blizzard conditions, flash flooding, and coastal impacts will all be possible. In Alaska, blizzard conditions are expected on the Alaskan coast Wednesday. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall will lead to flooding concerns in Hawaii.

New York City Emergency Management today issued a travel advisory for Sunday, December 17, and Monday, December 18.

The National Weather Service is monitoring a major coastal storm that will impact the region with a mix of moderate to heavy rain, strong to damaging wind gusts, and minor to moderate coastal flooding to the area Sunday into Monday.

While Hurricane Lee forms in the Atlantic Ocean it is expected to rapidly intensify into an 'extremely dangerous' major storm on Friday.

It is the first major hurricane of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season that arrives early, as it crawls north through the Caribbean.

A National Hurricane Center update states that the storm intensified overnight, gaining maximum sustained winds of 115 mph, which makes it a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.
