LONGING FOR U

"Take Me Home, Country Roads" and the universal pull towards home is a song about a longing for home (co-written by a songwriter who had never even been in West Virginia), has been embraced by the Mountain State in a big way, and has since been appropriated by singers around the world looking for their very own "place I belong." I long for my birthplace, for my parents, my children and grandchildren.

NYC CULTURE ZONES

New York City is America’s tossed salad and melting pot. NYC has separate and distinct cultural "zones" defined by deep ethnic roots, immigration waves, and local geography. Every borough and region feels like a completely different country. NYC’s map highlights 30 immigrant neighborhoods across the five boroughs, including Chinatown, Koreatown, Little Poland, Little Guyana, Little Haiti, Little Palestine, Little Yemen, Little Ukraine, Little Odessa, and many more.
But many New Yorkers quickly noticed that some of the city’s most historic immigrant communities — including Little Italy — are missing. Italian-American leaders, along with others, have criticized the map, arguing it overlooks neighborhoods that helped shape New York’s identity. City Hall says the map focuses on current neighborhoods with substantial foreign-born populations rather than documenting every historic immigrant community, and officials have said additional neighborhoods may be added in the future.
New York City is a massive puzzle of distinct NYC ethnic enclaves. Neighborhoods act as cultural zones where different groups share their food, art, and traditions. This makes it easy to travel around the world just by taking a short subway ride

This inspiring because as we approach Hispanic History Month in America, it combines historical context, a compelling statistic, and a clear call to action. According to the most recent data:
Mexican — the largest group by far, roughly 40 million people, or 57% of the U.S. Hispanic population as of 2024
Puerto Rican — the next largest, at about 6.1 million
Cuban, Salvadoran, Dominican, Guatemalan, Colombian, Honduran, Venezuelan, and Ecuadorian — each topping 1 million
Venezuelans were the fastest-growing origin group between 2019 and 2024, more than doubling in number, while growth among Mexicans and Puerto Ricans slowed to around 5%

There is no need to drive hours to New England to get that maritime feel. After crossing the first bridge into Pelham Bay Park, scenery changes and the air is cooler and much purer. Once upon arrival, the urban landscape melts into a nostalgic 19th-century nautical haven.

Some personal thoughts for this year's unforgettable Father's Day Weekend. As I also take time to pay tribute to my great, late father Antoñiquito, for strict rules, my personality, including the Cuban coffee breath, the corny dad jokes... well, except for this one just now. To all fathers of all sizes, ages everywhere on the World Wide Web... Enjoy your Fathers Day weekend!
