Fall Leaf Disposal

You can place leaves, grass clippings and small twigs (less than 1/2 inch in diameter) curbside for collection by the NYC.

There is no limit to the amount of clippings that can be put out for collection provided they were produced by residents as household waste. In all boroughs throughout the year they can be placed in the following:

Black or dark brown bags

Unlined trash containers

Just a short 234 mile drive north of NYC, lies Salem, Massachusetts. Ghost, Witchcraft and Halloween enthusiasts regularly flock every year to the spooky city.

This place is well known for paranormal activity, restless spirits and last, but not least, those infamous Salem Witch Trials in the 1692, thrill-seekers are in for a truly scary time.

A number of spooky tours resurrect legendary stories of the witches, spirits and ghosts which are sure to send chills up anyone's spine.

ONLY 6 WEEKS?

Americans have been given six extra weeks to buy health coverage before facing a government penalty.

Those who buy health insurance through their new online marketplaces now have an extra six weeks to obtain required coverage before they incur a penalty.

This last minute announcement means that those who purchase coverage through the exchange will now have until March 31 to sign up for a specific plan, according to US Department of Health and Human Services.

ANOTHER TEACHER KILLED

Police officials in Massachusetts have linked a 14-year-old high-school student to the murder of math teacher 24 year old Colleen Ritzer through video surveillance and his own words.

HS freshman Philip Chism was charged as an adult for first-degree murder. He was ordered held without bail in Salem, Massachusetts.

A criminal complaint states authorities "learned from an interview of the juvenile suspect and video surveillance recovered at the school" that the suspect assaulted and killed Ritzer and then dumped her body.

TONY'S PIER IS BACK

Move over Johnny's.... Make room for Tony's Pier, which is back in business very soon!

Tony proudly says he is from The Bronx and claims to hail from Crotona Avenue. Named after the Greek colony of Croton and known for its Olympic athletes, Crotona Park has served the Bronx community steadily since its purchase by the City way back in 1888.

On October 29, 2012 City Island lost Tony's Pier Restaurant, This popular place burned down during Hurricane Sandy. There is a new building, owned and operated by the same great family.

City Island Halloween Celebration

With Halloween quickly approaching, the City Island Chamber of Commerce has announced the date for one of the most popular events: City Island Spooky Walk Parade.

NYC's City Island is ready, willing and dressing up for the annual Halloween Parade...

Halloween celebrations will be held on October 31 at 5:30pm, starting in Hawkins Park.
