MEDIA & REALITY

Caveat Emptor is a Latin phrase that translates to "let the buyer beware." It means that an individual agrees at their own risk.

These social media and Reality TV are as fake as a three-dollar bill is worthless.. Therefore it is sometimes used in legal contracts as a type of disclaimer. In many jurisdictions, it is the contract law principle that places the onus on the buyer to perform due diligence before making a purchase.

SPEAK UP

Why are so many afraid of speaking up these days? What are they afraid of? Is it the media messages delivered over time?

I teach a couple of university classes and find that a majority of students are hesitant to speak up in class. Why and what causes them to clam up?

According to published reports, our brains don’t differentiate much between emotional danger and physical danger. Whether it’s a saber-toothed tiger or a “We need to talk,” our sympathetic nervous system (the part responsible for the “flight or fight” response) kicks into high gear.

In the cultural practice of self-proclaimed pronouns, we can consider ourselves to be it. My favorite mascot is our Maverick and my favorite country music band. Beside
The Mavericks being the official Mercy University mascot, I also support the Dallas Mavericks and am a fan of this country music band. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=the+mavericks -Raul Malo founded the group in 1989 with my Tocayo, Robert Reynolds.

Therefore, since 'They are' Singular Nonbinary...
While using the nonbinary they, we use the verb that sounds the most familiar. "They are" is still the correct choice when referring to a single person, rather than "they are." However, whenever someone chooses pronouns they and them, it means that instead of referring to the person as he/him or she/her, you’re being asked to refer to the person as they/them. Simple enough, right? Well, except that if you’re unfamiliar with the use, you might wonder what kind of a verb goes with that pronoun: it is my friend. Get over it… And so it goes!

New York City is The Big Apple, Gotham, and well known for Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, Studio 54 and Sounds of The City.

New York City has been the setting for many great musical movements. Opera ruled the day in the late 1800s. Broadway musicals have always been big business, and in the ’20s, the explosion of jazz changed the scene. George Gershwin bridged the gap from classical to jazz.

Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, and Charlie Parker brought new energy to the city. Jazz grew into swing, and rhythm and blues morphed into rock ‘n’ roll.

I was so relaxed and fell asleep yesterday while watching one of the funnier sitcom marathons I have enjoyed in a long time.

There is nothing like laughter, and iconic TV sitcoms always put smiles on our faces and lift all of us whenever we seek a boost of happiness.
