Politics As Usual?

While politicians on both sides of the aisle are retiring, a shake-up is urgently needed in all parties because too many longtime officials, members of Congress, US Senators, state and local politicians have become indebted to special interest groups by massive donations to their campaigns which represent dangers to our democratic system.

USA voters should consider a clean sweep and search for new leaders who are satisfied with their base salaries and work for the greater good of everyone.

Trump's Niger Problem

An attack which resulted in the deaths of four elite US special forces with two others wounded when their unit, which was assisting local forces, was ambushed by local members of Islamic State in southwest Niger has drawn many questions the Trump administration apparently wishes to ignore with fake news. PR Catastrophe Continues

It has been almost one month since Maria slammed into the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico on September 20, and the US island is still reeling from the devastation the hurricane caused. As Hispanic Heritage month ends, this is what the US government finds on its plate. There are over 3 million Puerto Ricans, who are American citizens living in this US territory, which is larger than 21 states.

POTUS visits Puerto Rico for the first time since Hurricane Maria devastated the island last month. He visits during growing tensions with local Puerto Rican officials, most notably San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz, over relief efforts.

He witnesses storm damage from Hurricane Maria after Trump attacked Puerto Rican officials who criticized the federal storm response. Everyone will be watching to see how he is received on the US island. As of this week, more than half of the island's 3.4 million people don't have access to drinking water and only 5% have power.

During the last debt-ceiling crisis, business leaders sought a grand bargain to raise revenue and cut spending in the manner proposed by the Simpson-Bowles fiscal commission.

The tax-reform proposal announced by the White House and the GOP will do the opposite, adding trillions of dollars to US debt. The Taxman Taketh Away

Tax reform is all about showing me yours and I will be showing you mine. How can any so-called leader sell a tax plan if has not yet revealed his own taxes? Is do as I say and not as I do the POTUS way?

Some are accusing Trump of putting big companies first with his low tax plan. Others explain that a pig wearing lipstick is still a pig any way you look at it.

A 20 percent top corporate rate; 25 percent for “certain” pass-through businesses; three individual rates of 12, 25 and 35 percent with instructions for committees to add a fourth higher bracket if they choose?

The Need to Kneel
