NYC FREE PUBLIC BROADBAND AND WI-FI

Plans are underway to enhance cellular telephone reception in the subway system, and NYC Transit has reached an agreement with a contractor to install a wireless cellular telephone infrastructure in underground stations. This plan will provide service in stations and on platforms, but excludes subway tunnels. Above-ground stations generally already have wireless cellular service by virtue of coverage from service providers’ existing cellular sites.
