Has sportsmanship gone out the window as well when it come to the Russian teams?
The teams representing Russia and Slovakia will square off at Euro 2016 today, but the Russian squad will be expelled from the tournament if their fans continue to behave like hoodlums like Saturday.
UEFA is Europe's soccer governing body, which has made the expulsion threat and fined Russia 150,000 Euros equivalent to $169K after the hooligans violently attacked England supporters and French police following the 1-1 draw Saturday.
The news comes at an inopportune time for Russia, which is battling financial and sociopolitical concerns two years before it hosts the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Russian soccer executive, Igor Lebedev, certainly didn't help matters this week after encouraging fans to keep fighting during the tournament. Does Russia seem to care that the whole world is watching?
