While you were one of many highly qualified applicants, we have concluded that another candidate’s experience and qualifications more closely match our requirements. I regret to inform you that we will not be pursuing your application further at this time.

While it was difficult to decide among such a large group of highly qualified applicants, we won't be pursuing your candidacy for this recruitment at this time.

I remember the first time I received a phone call from someone who wanted to offer me a job. I accepted it and stayed there for years. Later headhunters would contact me about this or another great gig.

They were dream jobs, where I made it to the final round and got the job. They kept calling, so did other hiring managers and hiring committee.

The good old days when search firms had real open jobs and you basically just had to sit and wait for the phone to ring. I paid these firms search fees. But, the high flying days of Executive Search have come to an end. There are search engines like LinkedIn and many others.

They don't do it like they used to and all you get now are the questionable contingency firms calling for mystery roles.

It's just too easy for companies to find talent these days, even for C-Suite roles. So, what do you do to get the job offers you deserve?

Become an agent ambassador and preacher to evangelize UBrand. Please share with our readers the places which you think are not hiring because you are "OVERQUALIFIED" which is another way of saying you're too old to be hired by them. Are any of these others familiar?

Please know – there is nothing you need to prepare for this. I simply want to get to know you better, as I will be sharing information about you with the search committee. I will be your mouthpiece so our Skype, Facetime or phone conversation will truly be a "getting to know you” session.

While you were one of many highly qualified applicants, we have concluded that another candidate’s experience and qualifications more closely match our requirements. I regret to inform you that we will not be pursuing your application further at this time.

Our search committee has done a careful review of applications and advanced some candidates to the next level. I regret that your application was not among the ones selected to move forward.

I extend the committee’s sincere appreciation for your willingness to let us consider your candidacy, and for the time it took you to prepare your materials for us. Our pool was made stronger by the diverse range of applicants we considered.
