The World Wide Web is 22 years old and some insist its older. On April 30, 1993, the Web went public for you and me and fee free.

The information superhighway has been responsible for some slow pokes to be run over, but has also picked up many hitchhikers since. But some say it was fifty years ago, in response to a surprise Soviet launch of Sputnik, that USA set up the Advanced Research Projects Agency.

This military project would become the cradle of connectivity, spawning the era of Google and YouTube, of Amazon and Facebook, WWW.DOSEOFNEWS.COM and successfully managed online digital political campaigns.

Each breakthrough of network protocols, hypertext, the World Wide Web, the browser have inspired engineers to built the foundations for a world-changing technology. Here is an interesting timeline and some complementary articles and others, well not so much.
