New York City Emergency Management has issued a travel advisory for Wednesday, 9/30. According to the National Weather Service, a weak frontal system is approaching the New York City area and is expected to bring moderate to heavy rain tonight through Wednesday night. The heaviest period of rain is expected overnight Tuesday through the early morning rush. A total of 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected with this event. Urban flooding is expected in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Flash flooding cannot be ruled out during the periods of heaviest rain.

Widespread showers are likely across parts of the eastern U.S. on Tuesday, with moderate to heavy rainfall possible from the Appalachians to New England, where rainfall amounts in excess of 3 inches are possible for some locations. Flood and Flash Flood Watches are in effect across the region.

The short range forecasts (Days ½-2½) now only display the National Digital Forecast Database (NDFD) products for the weather portion of the forecast charts.
