Anthropologists have argued that organized warfare didn't come about until political hierarchies rose to power. They say war emerged after the agricultural revolution, when fat cats owned more resources than needed, and they felt it was worth fighting for.
This Skeleton was unearthed in Africa and it may well be the oldest known evidence of human warfare. It dates back 10,000 years ago and bears marks of blunt force trauma, along with projectile wounds.
