The Mourning After

Hours after July Fourth celebrations had ended in NYC, an officer was executed while sitting inside her police cruiser.

The Bronx is apparently going back to those bad days of violence. The northernmost of NYC's five boroughs has had it's up and downs, but most recently has seen a spike in murder by shootings.

A member of the NYPD was shot to death early Wednesday morning after being ambushed in a marked patrol car by a man with a revolver who was later killed by police officers.

A staredown and scary situation in a hostile or intimidating way, in which someone feels forced to look away increased today. The conflict between North and South Korea has been locked in a state of tension since The Korean War ended with a truce in 1953. The two nations have remained deeply hostile, exchanging occasional violence and showing plenty of hatred over the years across the Demilitarized Zone, which separates the two countries.

This independence day, as we celebrate the birth of democracy, it's worth remembering that America is truly an exceptional nation in many ways good, and some not so much. Above are charts of ways that the USA is #1.

Whether you measure it using exchange rates or get down with PPP, the U.S. is still the world's largest economy.

We pay the most for healthcare. Yes, it is insanely expensive. But it's always good to have a reminder of just how expensive it is compared to other developed nations.

POTUS Profanities

Who's the most foul-mouthed President of The USA? Many would quickly say 45 right away.

However, that depends on their styles, priorities, intelligence, and criteria. So we surfed the internet for quotes from US Presidents' colorful language.

President Obama's comment about Mitt Romney being a "bulls*****r" is one the less-offensive of the presidential profanities. Reagan, Carter, Ford, Clinton, Nixon, Johnson and even Harry S. Truman, were all known to let a profanity slip every now and then, but POTUS 45 toxic Tweets, comments, and actions could trump them all.

USA Patriot

I love my family as well as this great country. I proudly display American flags around my home and I own too many items, which I continue to hang on to and the question I can't get out of my head is who, what, when, which, where and how does a person become a real patriot?

I am a husband, a father and extremely proud to be called UB, Uncle Bob, or GB, aka Grandpa BoB. I truly appreciate of all my blessings every day. I'm a proud American citizen, a property owner, and taxpayer. Like many of us, I'm an immigrant who entered the United States legally. My family once lived under communism in Cuba, but left all worldly riches behind and fled for a democratic way of life in the USA.

I am not a Republican or a Democrat. I have no political affiliation. I'm a Christian, but no longer attend regularly scheduled religious activities. I do not represent any special interest groups. I'm not an advocate for a specific lifestyle albeit I respect everyone.
