Minimum Wage Increases

This year, there are 20 states, plus Washington, DC all across the US, which have increased their workers' minimum wage. In other words, 3 million employees are receiving a salary increase.

Therefore, this year 29 states will have a higher minimum wage than the federal minimum wage, which is still $7.25 an hour.

These city and state-led reforms are mounting pressure on Congress to raise the federal minimum wage, but Congress does not always follow the will of the people, so don't hold your breath, because we're not there yet.

82 year old Mario Cuomo, former Governor of New York died at his home in New York City.

Mario Cuomo served for three terms from 1983-1994, and is the father of current New York governor Andrew Cuomo, who was just sworn in for his second term today in NYC.

Happy Flu Year

A flu epidemic has spread across the US, with 15 child deaths reported in nine states so far, according to federal health officials.

It’s not possible to predict how bad this flu season will be like. Flu seasons are unpredictable in a number of ways. While flu spreads every year, the timing, severity, and length of the season usually varies from one season to another.

Flu viruses are constantly changing so it's not unusual for new flu viruses to appear each year. For more information about how flu viruses change, visit How the Flu Virus Can Change.

2014 * 2015

2015 will be a bumpy ride because 2014 was a busy 24/7 news cycle...

Entertainers excessively showed off causing public reactions, or they just couldn't get along, while popular sports generated way too many headlines off the field.

Mixed 2015 Forecast For US

Submitted by Admin on

As Americans prepare to celebrate the end of 2014, and bring in 2015 there's good and bad news from the National Weather Service. http://www.noaa.gov/

First, the good news... New Year’s Day has no chance of precipitation for that time period. So folks won’t have to deal with snow or rain on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day.

Now for the bad news, it’s finally going to begin to feel like winter just in time for New Year’s Eve. The cold weather and low temps for the last night of 2014 calls for temperatures in the high teens. New Year’s Day will be sunny with a high in the low 30s.

Thanks, gracias, xiexie...etc.
