US Representative José E. Serrano, NY Democrat is delighted that US Senators have passed legislation awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to honor the service and legacy of the “Borinqueneers” or 65th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army. Having passed both chambers of Congress, all that remains is for the President to sign the bill.

The House passed the bill unanimously earlier this week and Congressman Serrano spoke on the floor in favor of it. A video of Congressman Serrano’s speech on this bill can be seen here:

MILE HIGH MUSIC

Denver is often referred to as the mile high city, where residents enjoy 300 days of sunshine, a thriving cultural scene, multicultural and diverse neighborhoods, with natural landscapes, which all add up to the world's most spectacular playground.

A young, active city at the base of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Denver's stunning architecture, award-winning dining and unparalleled views attract many, while Denver's seven professional sports teams entertain year-round. If all of this weren't enough...

Since Colorado made retail sales of marijuana legal this year, residents have been having lots of fun. Tomorrow, Colorado Symphony musicians will begin performing a series of concerts they call "Classically Cannabis: The High Note Series."

The region's premier orchestra is rolling into the state's premiere burgeoning business, controversy be damned. The orchestra is holding a series of bring-your-own-marijuana fundraisers sponsored by the state’s newly legal cannabis industry.

CLASSICALLY CANNABIS: THE HIGH-NOTE SERIES:
o Friday, May 23, Pan American Highway
o Friday, July 18, Mississippi Blues Highway
o Friday, August 15, Summer Monsoon

With an altitude of 5,280 feet, we will attempt to find out how much higher the group got.

CELEBRATE CUBAN INDEPENDENCE DAY

During the 1960s, many Cubans who fled that gorgeous Caribbean island, known as the Pearl of the Antilles to escape Castro's revolution helped the CUBA LIBRE gain it's way to popularity in the good old USA. Long dominated by a generation of elder drinkers, this popular tropical beverage appears to have been around for a long, long time.

Now, a new generation of Cubanos is taking the Rum and Coke to new highs... Many Miami Cubans call it mentirita, or a lie because Cuba is no longer truly independent.

Nevertheless, celebrate May 20th, aka Cuban Independence Day with a cold CUBA LIBRE Rum and Coke, or perhaps a nice and tasty MOJITO.

There are countless recipes for the Mojito but this version is for the one Hemingway himself enjoyed at the Mojito's place of birth: La Bodeguita del Medio in Habana, Cuba. If you are throwing a Cuban theme party, plan on serving mojitos.
