Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and the New York Yankees co-hosted the inaugural “Borough President’s Cup” Little League Championship. The game featured a match-up between the Little League Raiders and the Rolando Paulino Little League, who competed for the title in a game at Yankee Stadium.

Obama Speech Bumped

The sport of politics - If you were the President, would you want your speech to compete with debating Republicans, or NFL's opening night? Well, Mr. Obama has been forced to postpone an urgent economic speech to a joint session of Congress by one day to prevent a clash with the GOP and butting heads with the NFL.

President Obama initially scheduled his prime-time speech for Wednesday, which was the date for Republican's presidential candidates' debate.

Next Wednesday, President Obama wants to deliver a speech to Congress on the US economy.

Sept. 7, 2011 is the day Mr. Obama has requested to speak before a joint session of Congress
8 p.m. This is the same time as the already scheduled Republican presidential debate.

Everyone knew the President was going to make a speech next week, but it is interesting that he would choose to do it in such an elevated setting, and at the same time GOP presidential hopefuls will be laying out their own vision for how to fix the economy... Stay tuned!

The US Justice Department wants to block the merger between AT&T and T-Mobile. Attorneys filed a complaint to block AT&T’s proposed $39 billion buy out of T-Mobile. This deal that would create the largest carrier in the US and reshape the communications industry.

The legal documents complains that T-Mobile “places important competitive pressure on its three larger rivals, particularly in terms of pricing, a critically important aspect of competition.” This is also highlighted T-Mobile’s high speed network and its innovations in technology.

Hurricane IRENE controlled the airwaves over the weekend as many TV and Radio stations along the East Coast provided wall-to-wall coverage of the storm as it moved through our Tri-state area.
