Why is it that following acts of violence, which causes multiple deaths, the media keeps mentioning the perpetrator? These people who commit crimes are sick people seeking attention and the media gives it to them every time. We need to have conversations with friends and colleagues about this problem.

CITY IMAGES proposes that these criminals be left in the shadows to lurk in their own darkness. The emotional crescendo of family friends and our nation is understandable following tormented losses, most of which are caused by the growing access of guns in this country.

"GO BACK TO UNIVISION"

Was Donald Trump meaning to say go back to where you came from to Mexican anchorman Jorge Ramos? He had his bodyguards remove the superstar anchorman for doing his job.

The Donald had his security detail remove the Univision personality from his news conference when Ramos started asking pointed questions about Trump's immigration proposal. Jorge was then allowed to return, and later involved Trump in a lengthy argument.

SOCIAL SECURITY LAW

80 years ago today, back in 1935, US Congress passed the Social Security Act and President Franklin D. Roosevelt immediately signed it into law.

Provides for federal contributions of up to $15 a month a person, starting soon, to help states pension their most needy aged residents.

Establishes a great national annuity system by which an estimated 25,000,000 workers and their employers will be taxed billions of dollars through the years, and workers will be paid $10 to $85 a month by the government when they are 65 and jobless.

NYC HEALTH WARNINGS

New York's elected officials are playing political games and the public's health may suffer. NYC Mayor and NY Governor were not speaking directly, while BBP told the press all hands on deck. OK, but what bout our lungs? What the hell is going on folks. WTF Do you believe this crap?

Global efforts to stop human trafficking continue to gain support. The Department of State’s Office has increased the monitoring and combating of trafficking in persons, which is headed by Acting Director Kari Johnstone. The effort leads the United States' global engagement against human trafficking, an umbrella term used to describe the activities involved when someone obtains or holds a person in compelled service.

Today is the 20th anniversary of National Public Health Week. Obesity, the second leading cause of preventable death in the nation. To prevent childhood obesity families need convenient access to healthy, affordable food. Far too many families are food insecure, meaning parents and children do not always have enough nutritious food to eat each day. In addition, childhood obesity is an epidemic, causing life-threatening health problems such as diabetes and heart conditions.

Biting The Bullet

As a former NBC News employee, who devoted nearly a decade of my professional career writing and producing broadcast news, I worry about the possible loss of credibility caused by a journalist's' self inflicted wound.
