ALCOHOL IS A DRUG

Dangers of Drinking

Alcohol is the number one drug of choice for too many Americans.
Alcohol-related car crashes are the number one killer in the United States.
Alcohol is the number one drug problem in America.

If you think it can't happen to you, look around. Check the stats for the last ten years. How many were related to an individual who was killed in a drunk driving crash?

Ask your friends how many people they know who have had bad things happen to them when they or someone else was drinking.

ARE THESE GOOD OR BAD?

Sleeping: Resting is free and has virtually zero health drawbacks, making it the one treat no one should delay. It gives you energy, bolsters your immune system, your memory, and even helps you get slim. Cut slumber short, and you'll find it harder to make decisions (no surprise to anyone who's struggled through a workday after a too-late bedtime). Plus, you'll increase your risk for anxiety and depression.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT - WORDS OF WISDOM

“There are two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as if everything is a miracle.”

— Albert Einstein

“When I am, as it were, completely myself, entirely alone, and of good cheer - say traveling in a carriage, or walking after a good meal, or during the night when I cannot sleep - it is on such occasions that my ideas flow best, and most abundantly. Whence and how they come, I know not, nor can I force them.”

— Mozart

“The weakness of men is the façade of strength; the strength of women is the façade of weakness.”

— Warren Farrell

VALUABLE NETWORKING TIPS

Remember that networking is always a two way street. We aren't just there to get something; we're there to learn what we can give. This is a gift for everyone involved. What can we contribute?

Tell your story. You will be asked who you are and why you are in attendance. Have your elevator speech ready, and give it with energy.

Know what to say. Sports events, major news cycles, the success of the event, the beauty of an item of jewelry, the quality of the hors d'oevres. Even owning your nervousness. Can be endearing.

ARE WE WHAT WE CONSUME?

There is a notion that to stay fit and healthy we need to consume good food and content.

This phrase has come to us via quite a tortuous route. Anthelme Brillat-Savarin wrote, in Physiologie du Gout, ou Meditations de Gastronomie Transcendante, 1826: Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are.

In an essay entitled Concerning Spiritualism and Materialism, 1863/4, Ludwig Andreas Feuerbach wrote: 'man is what he eats'.
