SMELL OF ENERGY?

Submitted by ub on

Global scientific researchers are suggesting that manure may save the world from destruction, along with other crap humans routinely generate and throw away.

The message is loud and clear. Humans have long been producing a shit load of excrement and we have mistakenly been thinking that this crap is useless.

Feces power alone will not solve the world's energy challenges. But it looks like our European neighbors have woken up and smelled the aroma, realizing there no point letting all that crap go to waste.

The health of our planet may well depend on it.

Financial Markets Commentary

“Look up here, I’m in Heaven!” is the opening line of David Bowie’s off Broadway production, Lazarus, which premiered earlier this month two days before the artist’s death. Known for innovating the world of music, Bowie revisited the theater as a creative way to say goodbye as he lost his battle with cancer. Many of the retrospectives on his unique life include his innovation in the financial world too.

The holidays require thought, meditation and preparation. This in the season of peace, and definitely not war.

Whether you’re the one who is hosting, invited, or plan to be guesting. In any case, you’ll be thinking about cooking, traveling, safety and avoidable pastimes, or free for all with friends and family.

Joy to the world and peace on earth where? Seriously, are you kidding? Neighbors, colleagues and nations shooting, arguing, fighting, while terrorism is frightening, and the whole world is at war. When will this end? Wont it stop, not even for Christmas?

NYC Meltdown?

A major radiation release in the area would be catastrophic to the entire NYC Tri-state region.

This is why public safety officials recently conducted preparedness exercises at the Indian Point Energy Center. During their exercises, people near the site saw simulated attack scenarios that were intended to be as realistic as possible.

Stepping Stones Outlook

The recently completed third quarter reminded us that financial markets entail risk even as the
Federal Reserve continues to pursue its extraordinary monetary policies adopted during the
financial crisis seven years ago. The third 10% stock market correction since the bull market
emerged in 2009 came after a record stretch of time without one. However, the volatility was
minor compared to the Black Monday crash of October 19, 1987 which convinced President
Reagan to establish the President’s Working Group on Financial Markets. Comprised of the

ITS A BIG FAT WORLD

Nearly one third of the people on earth are considered overweight. There is no country in the world where people have avoided obesity rates and the trend has been tracked for over thirty years.

There is a fat chance that either you, or someone you know is obese. In fact more than 2 billion people are now overweight. The highest overweight areas are found in the midsections of the body, so it goes to show that the top culprits are the Middle East and North Africa. Here nearly 60 percent of men and 65 percent of women are fatties.

ANNUS MIRABILIS + 20

Historians still call the year 1905 the Annus Mirabilis, the miracle year because in that year Albert Einstein published four remarkable scientific papers ranging from the smallest scale to the largest, through fundamental problems about the nature of energy, matter, motion, time and space.

BOOST YOUR ENERGY

Submitted by ub on

Some days, do you feel like the Energizer Bunny with a weak battery? You start strong, but by mid-afternoon you can’t quite keep going and going. Fatigue afflicts everyone at one time or another. Assuming your doctor has ruled out serious medical causes, there are a few basic steps you can take to “recharge your batteries.”

Pace yourself. A go-getter likes to keep going, but don’t risk overtaxing yourself. If you pace yourself, you can still get things done. Instead of burning through all your battery life in two hours, spread it out between morning tasks, afternoon tasks, and evening activities — with rest and meals between.

Take a walk or a nap. There’s nothing more satisfying than a short power nap when you’re pooped out. However, if you have trouble sleeping at night, napping can make the insomnia worse. If that’s the case for you, get moving instead. Get up and walk around the block, or just get up and move around. If you are not an insomniac, enjoy that 20- to 30-minute power nap.

Fatigue is a symptom, not a disease, and it's experienced differently by different people. Fatigue from stress or lack of sleep usually subsides after a good night's rest, while other fatigue is more persistent and may be debilitating even after restful sleep. Harvard's Special Health Report, Boosting Your Energy, provides advice and information from world-renowned medical experts to help you discover the cause of your fatigue and find the right treatment or lifestyle changes.

Skip most supplements. You may have heard about energy-boosting or “anti-aging” supplements. There is no evidence they work. There is no evidence that DHEA offers any real benefits, and the side effects remain a question mark. You especially shouldn’t be buying it from ads in the back of a magazine, because you don’t know what’s in it. Iron. Iron only improves energy if you are clearly deficient, which a doctor can check with a blood test. Unless you are low in iron, you don’t need to take it, and getting too much iron can be harmful. B vitamins. It is true that B vitamins (B1, B2, B6, B12) help the body convert food into the form of energy that cells can burn, but taking more B vitamins doesn’t supercharge your cells. That’s a myth.
