Angry American Voters

We cannot defeat an enemy without fully learning his identity.  The disappointment, sadness, fear, or hate some people may be currently experiencing are not enemies. Righteous anger may be the best tool we can have at our disposal to overcome those other feelings if we exert anger mindfully.

Our real enemy, I believe, has been our inability to accept our present-day existential reality —whether all of us can survive as a free nation— and, as a result of that knowledge, to fully trust ourselves in order to effect real, extraordinary change.

Madam and mister American newspaper publishers, temporarily tear down your paywalls until Election Day. Do it for our Democracy.

Traditional newspapers were supposed to die in a world of free digital content. Instead, many are thriving by gating content behind paywallsPaywalls can force users to pay for access, but also impact heavy users disproportionately and harm engagement. However, they can boost print subscription sales by 1-4 percent.

On Tuesday evening, USA registered voters may have a good look at the two candidates as they face off for the first presidential debate before they cast their ballots.

This ver first debate between Donald J Trump and Joseph R. Biden is scheduled for Tuesday at 9 p.m. It will have an old fashioned feel, and only one moderator, Fox’s Chris Wallace, who Will try to be "as invisible as possible."

City Images would have preferred that both submit to drug tests administered by an independent Swiss Doctor and be subject to lie detectors during the entire event.

I first met Michael Bloomberg when he held his farewell swan song Christmas Party for The NYC Press Corps at Gracie Mansion. https://www.bloomberg.com/company/

Bloomberg took the time to remind journalists of his accomplishments and once again restated that he loves New York City and plans to live here forever. There was no mention of his Bermuda home.

Evil Ways and Means

A stereotypical image of an evil man and a purposely distinctive visage of villains, initially from the stage plays of the 1880s.

This has been the heaviest week for the bad news I can recall and since I closely follow journalism developments, I like others agree that the news dam is breaking and some Americans fear that as Election Day grows near, that the next few months may become progressively crazier, including more blood, sweat, and tears.

This is a good example of two political rivals showing consideration for one another. Here is a Richard Nixon telegram to John F Kennedy after he was hospitalized with a knee injury and JFK had informed him that he would not campaign until Nixon recovered.

This was 60 years ago today and that was then. Do we expect Republicans to run a clean campaign on their record and their top priorities and what they plan to do for all Americans?

As the USA could possibly become a new hub of the outbreak, according to the World Health Organization, Americans need to hear from real physicians and medical experts, not spin doctors. The public should not be watching a government response to the COVID-19 pandemic through partisan eyes but with a microscope. USA taxpayers must insist on being the priority, not the major corporations which received a stimulus package and used it to buy back stocks. The average American is the one who pays taxes and they should insist on being the focus of a massive payback.
