Once upon a time in The United States of America, the media broadcasts on the air belonged to the American public.

Then Congress became concerned that the monopoly audience control of the three main networks, NBC, ABC, and CBS, could misuse their broadcast licenses to set a biased public agenda. As totalitarian regimes attempt to spread their tentacles, officials don't respond positively to local journalists' interview requests. 

Reporters' queries about their alleged illegal activities or questionable actions keep rising, whether they're taking bribes, making unilateral decisions concerning restrictive laws, or about the local zoning and backroom plotting. These so-called public servants appear more interested in achieving total control and lining their pockets with developer money rather than responding to their local constituents' concerns.

As you can imagine, it is about reaching the highest ambitions of journalism, producing excellent content and hyperlocal in approach and relevant to the community served.

Some become your reporters become disappointed because they wrongfully think it is an easy job that does not require hard work, difficult decisions, and personal sacrifices.

Published reports are predicting newspapers will stop daily print production this year due to rising print costs and weakening of distribution networks. We may also see a further spate of venerable titles switching to an online-only model.

TV and broadcasters will be at the forefront of news layoffs as audiences are hit by fatigue and competition from streamers. More media will talk openly about a time when linear transmissions might be diminished. There will be a partial switch as an ad-based model increases the pressure further on advertising revenue.
