Auld Lang Syne

“Auld lang syne” is the title and key phrase of a 1788 Scottish poem typically sung on New Year’s Eve around the world. The phrase “auld lang syne” literally translates to “old long since” and basically means “days gone by.” Or “the good old times.”

Should old acquaintance be forgot,

and never brought to mind?

Should old acquaintance be forgot,

and old lang syne?

CHORUS:

For auld lang syne, my dear,

For auld lang syne,

These must be very special and groovy kinds of love. https://youtu.be/bPJYT7LigtY

The Beatles released "I Saw Her Standing There" and  'I Want To Hold Your Hand' were both hit records. One had a deep hidden message. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGOObcfkQBI

However, many years earlier, this message was heard loud and clear from the lipa of Ben E. King's famous song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwZNL7QVJjE

There is a back story to this. When our family migrated from Cuba and I did not speak English, and neither did my parents. They taught me two phrases. ‘ I know nothing about politics’  and ‘ Apple Pie and Coffee’. Those were the first words I memorized learned how to say.
