This dark image is of me on TV.  I’m in the front row on the left next to the man with a full beard. while singing on PBS Television

I may be losing my voice but I used to have a nice one. I sang harmony well and enjoyed singing along with a local  NYC choral group, and with a rock band, and in the shower.

The activity brought me a lot of joy, but now, my voice sounds like I have a permanent cold. I also used to play music competently, but now I can no longer reach the high notes. It's very difficult to accept this new reality.

KUDOS to my favorite new teenager today. I want to say that I survived the seven-year itch, which lasted to the ripe old age of 19.

I am writing this to you while you are sleeping. Not only because of the time difference but because GB knows you like to sleep late as much as possible. This is also because of your genes.

Wicked is a fascinating take on the Wizard of Oz universe, offering a fresh perspective on familiar characters. The way Wicked reimagines the Wicked Witch of the West, for example, has allowed fans to see the story from a more nuanced viewpoint, adding layers of complexity to the classic tale.

My late grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Rosenberg, who died at 98, was a calm and generally unflappable school teacher born in 1888 near Minsk, Russia. Her parents emigrated to the USA for better opportunities here when she was six months old. Born Mary Marholin, she self-adopted a middle name because, as she told me, so many of her Irish immigrant schoolmates had Elisabeth as a middle name.

She visited me in a dream last night while I was considering what we should do to survive four years of an angry, despotic president elected by the slimmest of margins.
