For the second time in as many years, the good people of Louisiana, New Orleans, are being threatened by a potentially deadly Amoeba, which is known as the “brain-eating” Amoeba. Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) confirmed the presence of Naegleria fowleri Amoeba in the water supply.

Local City Islander and New York State commander of the Catholic War Veterans, James Mullarkey installed Bruce Lubkeman of Newburgh Post 386 to the state position of 1st vice commander.

Post Commander James D. Peloso was installed as a state department trustee, and Steven Delgado was presented a “Gold Bar” signifying his affiliation with the National CWV as a member of the National Public Affairs Committee.

The Grand Carousel is celebrating 100 Years this SUNDAY with a Special Event Day - Sunday, July 26
Antique Cars on Display, Commemorative Giveaways, Birthday Cake Celebration, Free Souvenirs.

This ride dates back to 1915, which is 13 years before the opening of Playland. The carousel features 66 hand-carved horses and three chariots with dazzling jewels.
