The time has come to end the harmful teachings by some religious denominations that being LGBT is bad, or whatever words they use to demean, call evil, and cause enormous pain to our youth. More and more people are changing their minds….from evangelicals to Presbyterians to Catholics to Conservative Jews. Our understanding of human sexuality, and the natural place of same-sex love in it, has evolved!
There is nothing better than to have my students take time to congratulate and say happy holidays.

US is leaning on European and Arab allies to provide more troops and support for the war against the Islamic State group, hoping that the horror of the Paris attacks will compel them to get more deeply involved.
The administration sees as the beginnings of battlefield momentum in Iraq and Syria. It may also reflect a sense in the Pentagon that the campaign against the Islamic State group has advanced too slowly and requires more urgent and decisive military moves.

Gallup and Inside Higher Ed collaborated to measure employee engagement among college and university faculty members using Gallup’s employee engagement, or Q12, items. Inside Higher Ed supplemented these items with questions measuring satisfaction with certain aspects of jobs that are unique to faculty members. Some of the questions the study addresses include:
How do employee engagement levels compare among tenured versus nontenured faculty, part-time versus full-time faculty members, professors at private nonprofit versus public institutions, and by other demographic groups?

Article VI of the US Constitution states in part “no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.” Accordingly, President Obama has said that to have a religious test for Syrian refugees coming to the Unites States would be un-American. No one is proposing positions of high office for the refugees who our government defines as people fearing persecution on account of “race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group or political opinion.” So religion is clearly a component of the refugee test.

"There has been a concerted effort by several senior global politicians to give a new name to the group known as ISIS, or Islamic State, IS or ISIL. That new name is ‘Daesh’. If you've followed coverage of this attempted official linguistic sea change, you'll have gathered that the new name, although it’s just an Arabic acronym equivalent to the English 'ISIS', apparently mocks them, and thus drives them to threaten taking violent retribution on anyone who uses it.
