Our Future In Doubt

Submitted by ub on

This is not meant to scare any of us to death, but it really should. Air pollution is the greatest environmental risk to the health of our time, and #ClimateChange is the greatest public health threat of the 21st century.

Every day 1.8 billion children breathe polluted air putting their health and development at serious risk. In 2016, 600 000 children died from acute lower respiratory infections caused by polluted air.

Climate Change Dangers

Submitted by ub on

This is not a wake-up call. The whole world should now be aware of the single most threatening issue facing our planet. Planet earth has only until 2030 to stem catastrophic climate change or else we're all doomed.

Climate change is the statistical distribution of weather patterns for an extended period of time. Also known as global warming is the observed century-scale rise in the average temperature of the Earth's climate system and its related effects, as part of climate change. Multiple lines of scientific evidence show that the climate system is warming.

A Long Hot Summer

Submitted by ub on

This Summer could bring record-breaking hot weather. NYC experienced scorching temperatures and multiple records could tumble if the heatwave continues.

If the rest of the season remains above average, NOAA says it is likely to at the very least make it into the warmest summers ever.

The heat continues to bake the US, making it the third warmest June on record. Meanwhile, hurricane records from the Atlantic Ocean show phases of high and low activity that can last several decades at a time.

National Climate Assessment

Submitted by ub on

The National Climate Assessment is prepared by our top scientists and is by far the largest, most comprehensive US-focused climate change report ever produced and gives in-depth look on climate change.

The findings point to humanity as the cause for this extreme weather pattern. Many independent lines of evidence demonstrate the world is warming and human activity is the primary cause.

Other changes flow from this warming, including melting of snow and ice, rising sea level, and increases in some types of extreme weather, such as extreme heat and heavy downpours.

Three Blind Mice

According to government scientists, earth's climate continues to change throughout history. In 650,000 years there have been seven cycles of glacial advance and retreat, with the abrupt end of the last ice age about 7,000 years ago marking the beginning of the modern climate era and of human civilization. Most of these climate changes are attributed to very small variations in Earth’s orbit that change the amount of solar energy our planet receives.

US Coal Shoulder

Submitted by ub on

President Trump and his GOP co-conspirators are desperately trying to change the growing narrative of a criminal investigation, while world leaders are now pointing at crimes against nature.

Will air pollution trump a global necessity for clean air, pure drinking water? Should we hurry before time runs out? Try and catch the wind. https://youtu.be/J8hjEYTpwE8?list=RDJ8hjEYTpwE8

These following headlines tell the true story of the US giving the world a coal shoulder.
US exit from Paris agreement could open door for China to lead on climate change

USA TRIPLE THREAT

Submitted by Admin on

Almost half of the population of US, including our largest cities face serious floods caused by a “triple threat” of sea-level rise, storm surge and heavy rainfall, according to a study published in the journal Nature Climate Change.

The combination of these phenomena can potentially result in “compound flooding” that can devastate several low-lying, densely populated coastal areas inside the country.

This is the first scientific study to explore the connection between the primary and secondary effects of climate change. This means that without a drastic rise in sea levels, frequent severe floods and storms will bring the effects of climate change right into coastal cities, where nearly 40 percent of the American population now lives.

Since 1880, global temperatures have risen by 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit. And, over the last 100 years, the global average sea level has risen by seven inches. This increase is likely to accelerate as Antarctica’s floating ice shelves continue to melt.

Worldwide leaders and thousands of New Yorkers stood up for climate change now is The People's Climate March in New York City on Sunday.

Marches also took place in Paris, London and many other cities around the world. Celebrities attended these events as well. The march was scheduled days before world leaders convene at the U.N. headquarters to discuss climate change.
