A FAMILY AFFAIR

Everyone has a group of people they call family. For better or worse, some are more successful and we wish others were much brighter.

My family members are spread out over this fantastic nation, which years ago opened its arms and accepted us as political refugees.

This past year has been extraordinarily difficult for all moms. As caregivers, parents, and as homeschooling teachers. I wish all moms a Happy Mother’s Day.

A special Happy Mothers Day to my cousin, Miami’s First Lady Gloria Fonts Suarez. She is married to #PrimoPolitico, who is not only one of the best and brightest mayors in #America, Francis Suarez is also an intelligent #Republican and #MiamiWise.

I enjoy sending them gifts, but the real present we all need more than ever is to live and love each other and get closer together again.

Brandi’s infamous outburst made it all the way to the Supreme Court and SCOTUS Justices are being called upon to rule on its legality.

As a young man, I went to college, earned my advanced degree, first married and my two lovely daughters were born in Miami.

This coastal city was founded by a woman named Julia DeForest Tuttle a successful businesswoman who owned the property upon which Miami, Florida, was built. For this reason, she is called the "Mother of Miami." and is the only woman to be the founding mother a major American city.

A Family Affair

Sabrina, and I got together for dinner last night in what could be described as an NYC blowout. We had fun, believe me.

I had not hugged my baby daughter, Sabrina for over a year, and needless to say, this magic was long overdue. We were hearing all about the projects she is working on, and listing to Sabrina tell stories about my youngest grandchild Olivia.

Too Far Away

LiV lives far away from me physically but never spiritually and is always in my heart. Just like all my family members, who I miss dearly.

I have felt the geographic distance caused as a result of my career between me and my family to live thousands of miles from my grandkids. I feel sad to live across the country from the grandkids and, therefore, see them less frequently.

I read the news today that singer and songwriter #PaulSimon joined the trend of monetizing his old songs as an entire catalog, Simon says he sold them to Sony Music Publishing.

Paul Simon may have successfully sold his entire catalog to Sony for millions, but he will still be a historical footnote to Bob Dylan.

Last night, I was channel surfing and stopped to watch #MSNBC’s @Lawrence on cable TV. O’Donnell, whom I had met years earlier when Lawrence was a guest on The McLaughlin Group program I was co-producing. On last night's show  Lawrence was interviewing Aaron Sorkin and Sasha Baron Cohen about their award-winning film.

Pandemic Stories

COVID may turn out to be the ultimate stress test for human beings. A literary guide by famed Latin-American writer and Nobel prize-winning author Gabriel García Márquez first published in 1985 El Amor en Los Tiempos del Cólera in Spanish or Love in Times of Cholera is one classic we recommend for all to read. There is also a magnificent film to watch with an absolutely fabulous soundtrack to give a listen to. But manor no mistake about it, the global pandemic must be eradicated.
