NYC Council Member James Vacca, the Vacca Volunteer Corps, and the American Legion Korony Post will be volunteering to help serve meals to veterans residing at the nursing home at Bronx VA Medical Center, and also enjoying a meal with the former servicemen and servicewomen.

HollyTrolley- BCA’s Culture Trolley Saturday returns on December 10th with an afternoon of free trolley rides, attractions, free giveaways, including a number of exhibitions, interactive games, dance and craft workshops, a benefit comic book sale, and a holiday craft sale by bronxArtworks artisans. Funding for Hunts Point Market

US Congressman Joe Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx) applauded the announcement by Governor Cuomo that Hunts Point Terminal Produce Cooperative (also called the Hunts Point Market) will receive $29.5 million to modernize its facility through the New York City Regional Council’s plan to grow the economy and create jobs in New York City. An advocate for Hunts Point Market, Crowley recently called on U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Ray LaHood to swiftly approve a critical transportation infrastructure grant for the Market.

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. lit The Bronx’s official Christmas tree for 2011 in front of the Bronx County Building on the Grand Concourse. The annual tree lighting ceremony featured Christmas carols by Cardinal Spellman High school’s ‘Gospel Sensations’ and The M.S. 390 Chorus.

Borough President Diaz celebrated the tree lighting along with Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. Feliz Navidad, Santa!
