The odd-even license plate system for gasoline purchases will be rescinded in New York City as of 6:00 AM tomorrow, Saturday, 11/24/12.

NYC had originally established the odd-even license plate system on Friday, 11/9/12, to reduce wait times at gas stations and then allow the regional fuel supply to recover from damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. Currently, more than 85 percent of NYC gas stations are operational, and the available supply of gasoline is expected to increase.

On Monday, November 26, Council Members James Vacca, Chair of the Transportation Committee, will hear a package of bills that deal with the City’s taxi and for hire vehicle industry. Most importantly, the committee will discuss Intro 929, which would require a decal with the rate of fare to be posted on the exterior of all yellow taxis, as it was for decades before the Taxi and Limousine Commission stripped the cabs of this basic consumer information earlier this year.

Estados Unidos Mexicanos, was adopted in 1824 after independence from Spain imitating their northern neighbor, but this name is rarely used, except on official publications, their money and other government documents. President Felipe Calderon has announced that he would rather call it Mexico, saying his country doesn't need to copy anyone.
