Why do most politicians wind up following these steps towards Political Inaction Committees?

They get elected to gain power and influence, then fall in lust with fame and fortune.

They beat their chests, or slap their own backs to celebrate attainment of power.

They are urged to consider using their power to enact positive change.

They worry that this change might make them look bad politically.

They then decide to play it safe and change nothing.

They get re-elected to keep power they wont use.

Does your drinking alcohol put you at risk? Guidelines for low-risk drinking are based on the average level of consumption that increases the chance of illness, injury, or death. Every human body is different but in general health risks increase at the following levels.
For men:

Excessive drinking is defined as 5 or more drinks in a short period of time, such as a 2-hour period, or

More than 14 drinks in a week.

For women and people 65 and older:

Excessive drinking is defined as 4 or more drinks in a short period of time, such as a 2-hour period, or

DEMOCRACY FOR ALL

A constitutional amendment to overturn the Citizens United decision and to restore the principle of one voice, one vote in our electoral process has been introduced.

This Democracy for All Amendment would reverse destructive Supreme Court decisions like Citizens United v. FEC, that have given corporations and the wealthiest donors the right to buy unlimited influence in our elections. Crowley joins Reps. Over 100 members of US Congress support the constitutional amendment.

HEALTHY BRONX RIVER?

NYC Parks will join the NY-NJ Harbor & Estuary Program, the Bronx River Alliance, and representatives from federal, state, city, university and community organizations who are conducting a wide range of research projects along the Bronx River. These planned monitoring efforts are expanding our knowledge of the health of the River, while helping government agencies and the public make decisions about water quality improvements, habitat restoration, and recreational use of this important urban waterway.

IMMIGRATION EMERGENCY

US Congressional Hispanic Caucus members have called for quick action to address the humanitarian crisis involving unaccompanied minors entering this country, little is being actually accomplished.

Media organizations have the duty to make the obvious case of racism here. If these kids, or young adults were white fleeing violence, para-military gangs and drug cartels, there would be no outrage.

It's just that their skin is too dark for those who call this an immigration problem and not a global refugee crisis. What say you?

$185 MILLION FOR HOMELAND SECURITY

New York has received over $185 million in state and federal homeland security grants to municipalities across New York State. The funding will support critical infrastructure protection, sustain anti-terrorism programs in New York City, and enhance core emergency preparedness and response functions in counties statewide.
