GOP IOWA CAUCUS

Submitted by ub on

Criminal defendant, rapist, financial and moral fraud wins in Iowa.

For a few years, most of the world suffered through the psychological and economic devastation of the pandemic. Average workers emerged – quite remarkably – in almost the same shape as before the Covid-19 virus hit.

But that shape wasn’t all that great. Economic inequality remains quite terrible. Wage increases are only recently (and barely) outstripping inflation. And people are as angry at corporate elites, politicians and institutions of all kinds as they’ve ever been. Labor union support is soaring.

All this helps explain why former President Donald Trump romped to victory in the frigid Iowa GOP caucuses yesterday despite barely running a campaign in the state and skipping all the debates.

MLK said -There are some things in our society and some things in our world for which I am proud to be maladjusted.

“I Have a Dream,” Aug. 28, 1963 - the speech that remains King's most famous: "Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plain of dignity and discipline.

A few dozen influentials including foundation presidents say that rethinking their diversity would be seriously reconsidered.

D.E.I. Goes Quiet. As corporate diversity, equity and inclusion programs come under attack, some companies are rebranding their efforts. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/13/business/dealbook/dei-goes-quiet.html

All too often diversity initiatives encourage an us-versus-them mentality.

According to published reports, there are a few issues to consider in DEI.

A MANIAC MANNEQUIN

As the US enters the 2024 campaign, Russia’s Putin wants to fill the 24-hour news cycle with stupidity from his controlled puppet.

Here is an interesting perspective on the role of political figures as mannequins or puppets, particularly in the context of media manipulation. The historical references to the military use of mannequins add depth to our analogy. Worthless information overload.

The inside story of one mussel sucker's quest to achieve the American Dream on City Island - A Slice of New York City Paradise.

NYC natives of City Island refer to those who were not born there as “mussel suckers” while calling themselves “clam diggers,” maybe going back to the days when clam digging was in abundance. However, Clam diggers have stopped but the name remains.

GET WITH THE BEAT

Rhythm keeps the breath in music and I am old enough to have friends who’ve considered themselves former beatniks.

A fine late drummer who comes to mind is the one some called a drum god and Buddy Rich called him the inspiration for every big-name drummer in the business. He was Gene Krupa, the king of swing.

US VOTER GOP DON CON

Once a conman always a loser-liar. Donald Trump will say and do anything to save himself from the embarrassment of being a FRAUD.

As a title boy, after he learned to say mommy and daddy, he asked- “what is in it for me” This guy is public enemy number one.

What will he say next to try and scam American voters? Wait for it…

Whatever it is, it will be another lie and if it does not go well. He’ll say he was only kidding, or another bigger lie from the big old loser man.

Ban high-powered rifle magazines, not books. Assault weapons and high-capacity magazines are a clear and present danger to humanity.

Let us effectively draw attention to the issue of gun violence and contrast it with the recent challenges to book bans. We need to address the dangers posed by assault weapons and high-capacity magazines while highlighting the ongoing fight for students' access to literature.
