Faith Hope and Thanksgiving

As Americans approach Thanksgiving and proceed towards Christmas, we may wish to exercise our faith in God and country with acts of charity towards those of us who are less fortunate and need random acts of kindness.

There is also a special feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen and we can all find some joy in the fact that our US democratic form of government not only allows it but provides a mechanism for an investigation of any American government official who may be accused of wrongdoing.

Democracy’s Final Hurrah?

I never want to see democracy’s final hurrah, and trust me neither do you. Believe me that I can tell you!

Years ago, I surprised a lot of people, including myself by making a career move from the dark side to a brighter side: After a lifetime of jaded journalism trenches starting with my very intense 3 months long full-time internship with The Washington Post and Newsweek, I was hired by NBC News, then management stints at Univision, Telemundo, VOA, News12 and The AP, where I finally took a buy out and moved into academia.

Wonder Fruit

The mango is a juicy stone fruit from numerous species of tropical trees belonging to the flowering plant genus Mangifera, cultivated mostly for their edible fruit. The majority of these species are found in nature as wild mangoes and they are truly delicious.

There are thousands of varieties. A very nice tropical treat is the fresh mango. Every time I visit Miami I go directly to El Palacio De Los Jugos to puy gallons of the liquid delight. I am truly a mango maniac.

However, when I lived in Indiana, I quickly learned to call the mango a pepper or is it the other way around?

By monitoring the color of reflected light via satellite, NASA scientists can determine how successfully plant life is photosynthesizing. A measurement of photosynthesis is essentially a measurement of successful growth, and growth means successful use of ambient carbon.

Big Fat Brats

A disorder involving excessive body fat that increases the risk of health problems all over the USA is apparently not going away anytime soon. According to researchers, Aerica leads the world in obesity and I am writing this as I enjoy a spoonful of ice cream, but please don't tell my doctor.

Obesity occurs by taking in more calories than are burned by exercise and normal daily activities when our body mass index is 30 or greater. The main symptom is excessive fat, with the risk of serious health problems.
The mainstay of treatment is lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise.

Out of Order Tax Cuts

Here's an idea for Congress to consider, instead of blowing the hatch from their stinking careers. Businesses and rich people who own stocks are doing great. They make loads of money, while regular folks are not doing so well because the government has allowed wages to be capped.

Elephant Hunting

I have no political affiliation, but I do like elephants. Elephants are categorized as the African bush elephant, the African forest elephant, and the Asian elephant.

Female elephants live in tight-knit matrilineal family groups, some of which are made up of more than ten members, including three pairs of mothers with offspring, and are led by the matriarch which is often the eldest female. As a male elephant matures, he spends more time at the edge of his group and associates with outside males and other families. Are you beginning to get the picture and visualize this image?

Damn The Voters

Today on Capitol Hill is all about Damn The Voters, full speed ahead. Tax breaks for the rich or for the middle class are the question of the day? This is the first cut for corporations for corporations.

GOP leaders are expected to vote on their tax bill despite heavy opposition. Members on both sides of the isle leaders have voiced concern over the measure claiming it benefits corporations and high-earners. Republican US Senator Ron Johnson has said he's against the Senate Republican tax plan as its written.

Also, this tax legislation could slash production of affordable housing across the USA at a time when supply is near historic lows, according to those who know.

The Fight Before Christmas

Twas the fight before Christmas, when all through the House and Senate, not a creature was caring, not even a louse. The allegations were hung on the free press with care, and now it's being used as a political distraction to repeal OBAMACARE. http://town-hall.doseofnews.com #POTUS http://politics.doseofnews.com/

This can also be called the knight before Christmas because Jeff Sessions was born on December 24, 1946, and to this very day, this lone white knight still delivers sessions of testimonial dynamite as he continues to fight for legal might. Folks, you cant make up an intertwined story like this one. Believe me, that I can tell you.

Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III was the first US Republican Senator to support Donald Trump's campaign. This move gained him the US Attorney General post in the resident's cabinet. Then all hell broke loose.

Since he first testified during his confirmation hearings before Senate colleagues, he has changed his story several times. The versions differ while Jeff Sessions' testimony under oath. The US Senate testimony changed by the time he appeared before US House members. But which session is to believe if they contradict each other, or was it a classic case of selective amnesia?

When Jeff Sessions returned to Capitol Hill, he faced new questions about his past testimony regarding the Trump team’s ties to Russia, new indictments and plea deals by special counsel Robert Mueller, revelations about the campaign’s ties to Wikileaks, and Alabama senatorial candidate sexual misconduct scandal.
