Learning About Commuting

I don't know about you, but for me, my daily commute was a #PIA. It took me 3 hours each way door to door, so needless to say I do not miss it especially when it is beginning to get cold outdoors.

In my particular case, I was taking a train from Pelham, NY to 125 Street in Harlem NYC, and transferring on the Hudson line to Poughkeepsie. Once my train arrived at the station, then I waited for a bus that would take me to Marist College, my final destination. The monthly commuter pass was $500.00

The Graveyard Shift

The Nightshift is made possible by the many businesses that require non stop 24-hour staffing and close attention to constant detail.

Some are attracted to it for various reasons. I worked that shift and called it the graveyard shift. If you're in a union, the pay is higher and it is called an overnight differential.  But I jumped when I was offered another job because I never grow fond of it.

Increased efforts are underway to place US Military Veterans with employment opportunities. Swords to Plowshares is a veterans organization that provides job training, housing, and benefits advocacy to low income and homeless U.S. military veterans. It also operates a drop-in center for veterans requiring emergency services and engages in policy work.

Here's an idea for Congress to consider, instead of blowing the hatch from their stinking careers. Businesses and rich people who own stocks are doing great. They make loads of money, while regular folks are not doing so well because the government has allowed wages to be capped.

Health Care, Terrorism, and Jobs Most Critical Issues

When asked what issues are most important to them personally, Americans are more likely to
cite health care (63%), terrorism (62%), and jobs and unemployment (60%) than any other issue.
A majority (53%) of Americans report that crime is a critical issue to them personally. Slightly fewer
say the cost of education (49%), economic inequality (48%), and immigration (46%) are critical
