Health Care

30th anniversary of the 1987 Crash

Reminiscent of the terrible 2005 Hurricane season, the third quarter of 2017 witnessed a series of
natural disasters which caused historic flooding in Texas, ravaged the entire Florida peninsula and
devastated the island of Puerto Rico. Out West, destructive wildfires are leaving some of
America’s finest wineries in ashes. All are producing promises of government assistance which
has economists busy calculating the stimulative effects of the increased spending. Replacing
almost a million cars in Houston and rebuilding homes throughout the affected areas are sure to

Where is Nambia?

Submitted by ub on

Where in the world is Nambia? Someone should have told @POTUS that Namibia is located in SW Africa. The capital is Windhoek, with a coastal town named Swakopmund.

Perhaps he should visit Google, or read the encyclopedia instead of just wasting time on Twitter rants. We're just saying and suggesting.

Legalization of Marijuana

Do pros prevail over cons? The allowance to use cannabis legally is great news but the dose really matters.
The forbidden fruit is sweet. This adage is definitely true about a lot of issues, and marijuana is
not an exception. In order to improve the situation with this drug abuse, the number of the US
states legalized the use of marijuana for adults. To everyone’s surprise, the outcomes after the
first years were rather positive. For instance, in 2014, in the state of Washington, the number of
law violations decreased by 63% while marijuana-related convictions reduced by 81%. A good

USA Healthcare

The times are certainly changing, or so it seems. US Senator, VT Bernie Sanders unveiled his long-anticipated legislation to create a national single-payer health system with the support from 15 Democratic Senate co-sponsors.

His Single-Payer government-run health care system is an idea which is gaining ground among Democrats who are seen as possible presidential candidates. https://youtu.be/e7qQ6_RV4VQ https://youtu.be/OUOOrUsXBWI

Trump Threats

If the President carries out his new threat, he would be handing the insurance industry a solid court case while undermining his leverage to attract Democrats to the negotiating table. The Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, is the law of the land.

Tax Plan or Tax Scam?

Submitted by ub on

US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin meets Koch conservatives to promote #Trumptaxplan. Has anyone seen his taxes yet? The American taxpayer must be able to understand the full scope of #TRUMPTAXES.

How can the administration forge a close collaboration with the Koch brothers and President Trump, when his own taxes are not known? Are the Koch brothers gearing up to convince US their version of tax reform means only the 1% deserve tax cuts?

Failure Facts

In a stinging and dramatic defeat and disastrous deflate to @POTUS President Donald Trump, GOP Senators failed to dismantle Obamacare, falling short on another campaign promise and ending a seven-year quest by their party to gut the health care law. They had no bill, no plan and therefore not enough support for a semi secret bill that was in a crafting process. A Whitehouse in chaos does not appear to be winning like Trump promised.

Repair Obamacare

Submitted by ub on

Repeals and replace #Obamacare was nothing more than GOP Hot Air. Make no mistake about it, this vote is a major blow to President Trump and Republican lawmakers, who promised to repeal and replace Obamacare. The US Congress will not repair Obamacare. Will Trump learn the hard way that his Tweets, threats, and multiple golf outings get him nothing done in DC?

US Congress may be finally realizing it's time to move on once and for all. GOP Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is finally urging all members of the entire Senate to move on after that chamber narrowly rejected their last ditch effort to repeal Obamacare.

The US Senate narrowly defeated a bill early Friday that would have repealed limited portions of the Affordable Care Act also known as Obamacare. US Senator John McCain was able to cast the deciding vote against the plan.

Senators voted 49-51 for the bill, falling two votes short of the 51 votes needed to pass the legislation. In addition to McCain, Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska also voted against the failed bill.

Seven Year Itch

Submitted by ub on

It is like a partner, or spouse telling you where they won't go, but refusing to tell you where they will. Today the GOP controlled Congress will possibly decide if millions of Americans will lose their healthcare. The reason we say possibly is that few folks know which version of the bill senators will be voting for.

After seven years of badmouthing the Affordable Care Act and six months of playing golf, the President and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will attempt to move a plan forward to hold a vote on repealing the Affordable Care Act.

USA Patriot

I love my family as well as this great country. I proudly display American flags around my home and I own too many items, which I continue to hang on to and the question I can't get out of my head is who, what, when, which, where and how does a person become a real patriot?

I am a husband, a father and extremely proud to be called UB, Uncle Bob, or GB, aka Grandpa BoB. I truly appreciate of all my blessings every day. I'm a proud American citizen, a property owner, and taxpayer. Like many of us, I'm an immigrant who entered the United States legally. My family once lived under communism in Cuba, but left all worldly riches behind and fled for a democratic way of life in the USA.

I am not a Republican or a Democrat. I have no political affiliation. I'm a Christian, but no longer attend regularly scheduled religious activities. I do not represent any special interest groups. I'm not an advocate for a specific lifestyle albeit I respect everyone.
