City Island Images has some advice for elected officials and public servants everywhere. Pay more attention to individuals and companies operating illegally and show some flexibility to those law abiding citizens and licensed establishments, who are doing the best they can to play by established rules.

Stay alert and be on the look out for those bad people, concentrate your activities and do more investigative work going after anyone and everyone braking our laws, or those operating illegally by including confiscating their vehicles and equipment.

CITY ISLAND IMAGES - OPEN JOURNALISM: GET INVOLVED

Remember those days when newspapers came out once a month, except in few big cities in which they were weekly, and written communication was done by telegraph. Radio dominated the world of news, sports and entertainment, but only in big cities, until the time of shortwave radio arrived.

One day, television appeared, but to be seen only in the very large cities. On Saturday evenings, the furniture companies used to leave the television on inside their windows, while hundreds of people would come and surround the store to watch TV.

On Tuesday, May 15th, the Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation will host a Business Breakfast at Tosca Marquee as one of many Bronx Week activities taking place during May 10 – 20th. Author, turnaround specialist and serial entrepreneur Amilya Antonetti will address the audience of nearly 300 small businesses covering key issues relevant to growth and development.

During the Spring Gardening Open House at The New York Botanical Garden on May 5 and 6, experts will be on hand to share all they know about the Rock Garden and the Azalea Garden. Docents will lead tours of the Azalea Garden and the historic Rock Garden. A variety of Home Gardening Demonstrations will instruct on the care of azaleas, alpine flowers, and woodland plants.

The global employment situation is alarming, says a new United Nations report released today, which also warns that recovery is not expected any time soon.

The World of Work Report 2012: Better Jobs for a Better Economy – published by the UN International Labor Organization (ILO) – says that around 50 million jobs are still missing compared to the situation that existed before the global economic crisis.
