OBAMA ON GAY MARRIAGE

Submitted by ub on

What do you think? It was truly a historic moment as President Barack Obama voiced support for same-sex marriage, thereby becoming the first sitting commander-in-chief to do so.

Over the years, he mentioned his views on the issue were "evolving," but never expressed outright open support—just the belief that gays and lesbians should have access to the same civil rights as married couples.

What do you think? Will it gain him additional support, or will it hurt his chances for re-election?

MARCO POLO

In 1260, the brothers and Venetian merchants Niccolo and Matteo Polo traveled east from Europe. In 1265, they arrived at Kaifeng, the capital of Kublai Khan's Mongol Empire. In 1269, the brothers returned to Europe with a request from Khan for the Pope to send one hundred missionaries to the Mongol Empire, supposedly to help convert the Mongols to Christianity. The Khan's message was ultimately relayed to the Pope but he did not send the requested missionaries.

City Island Nautical Museum is one of 40 NYC sites selected for the Partners in Preservation initiative program that raises awareness of historic preservation by involving the public in distributing grants.

City Islanders and friends should continue being steadfast and keeping City Island Historical Society and Nautical Museum in consideration. The voting appears to be relatively stable and not too much movement. Could it be the calm before the storm?
