The co-chairman of that congressional super-committee in charge of slashing our national deficit is saying he's not optomistic and adds that deliberations are "roller coaster ride". The republican lawmaker gave no indication that a deal could be struck before the panel's Thanksgiving deadline.

Texas Representative Jeb Hensarling warns that his panel will fail unless Democrats agree to significant "structural" changes to entitlement programs like Medicare and Social Security.

Focus on the other person. First, find their address, and write it out yourself on the envelope. Where are they living? What did they go through to give you this gift? When is the last time you did something like that for them?

Think beyond material gifts. What about the person who serves you coffee every day? What about the doctor who saved your life, the Good Samaritan who found your wallet, the teacher who takes an interest in your child, the special friend who listens to you, the person who loves you.

He was the longest living resident of City Island and our most senior clam digger. He was and will always remain in my memory as a proud father, an even prouder grandfather and the proudest great grandfather ever, as well as my oldest and wisest friend.

City Island lost an old angel at 7:30 this morning, while the heavens have now claimed a new one.

C-130 "Angel Flight"

Submitted by ub on

This video is about a song called "Angel Flight"... It is terrific. The song
is being performed with "effects." Listen to the words of the pilot and the
tower, and make sure you sit quietly and listen at the very end.. You will
understand why one of the singers said he would be glad to help with the
song.....if he could stop crying. This is beautiful. God bless Vets!
