The Earth Institute at Columbia University is sponsoring a biennial conference and they are seeking participants in an online conversation on what's called a "crowd hall" On Facebook and Twitter, they will be discussing these and many other issues.

The agenda for this year’s conference will look at building a global agenda for sustainable development.

This annual event runs from September 24th thru 29th and it is billed as the largest family reunion in the US. It includes a parade and an amazing street fair, which has been celebrated in Dekalb County, Indiana for 81 years.

The DeKalb County Free Fall Fair is held in Auburn, Indiana, a charming city just north of neighboring Fort Wayne. The festival successfully ran all week, ending Saturday with an interesting parade and an jammed packed American Idol concert.

Oil spills are dangerous because of the release of a liquid petroleum hydrocarbon into the environment, especially marine areas, due to human activity, and is a severe form of pollution.

Oil spill contractors working for National Gird Corporation and under the direction of the US Coast Guard and the NYS DEC, are working to clean up a spill of oil and hazardous materials in Paerdergat Basin, Brooklyn.

The public is advised to avoid fishing and recreational activity in this area until further notice. An odor may also be present in the area.
